Ingredients for a tasteful design
October 13,2021
We live in a digital world. Most of us have smartphones and love taking pictures on it. But have you ever thought what are the things you question after clicking the picture? Is the picture clear, are the objects in focus, is the lighting right, are colors pleasant, etc.? A collective effort of the right settings gives us a perfectly composed picture.
Likewise, every design is composed of different elements to narrate a story. Elements such as color theory, textures, patterns, contrast, balance, transparency, layers, visual hierarchy, scale, and much more, can be played around to create an aesthetic design. To create a good design, a person doesn't need to be creative. According to Marcel Proust, “The real voyage of discovery lies not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” Meaning a person does not need to constantly look for innovations, instead needs to have a new vision to make the existing design better by using the designing elements and principles.
Good design will be innovative, appealing, and purposeful by itself, by using the right elements and principles, as it satisfies the user's needs and is easy for them to understand. Hence, creating designs that are functional, effective and long lasting is all about knowing the elements and blending them efficiently.
